When Reality Fails to Live Up to Nostalgia

Don't you hate it when you rewatch a TV show you loved as a kid only to find out it's a steaming pile of crap? For me, one such show is Andromeda.

Oh, the first season and the first few episodes of the second lived up to my fond memories — exceeded them, actually — but after that, the show rapidly crashed and burned, jumping the shark with the second season finale and turning into a largely unwatchable mess with only a few decent-to-good episodes scattered throughout the garbage.

Another show I loved as a kid but now recognize as shoddy trash is Mutant X. It's even worse than Andromeda; aside from Tom McCamus, Lauren Lee Smith, and — to a far lesser extent — John Shea, the show is wholly without any good actors, characters, or other redeeming qualities whatsoever.
